For many fans of U.S prog/power deserves a place in the genre’s top-3 along with “Operation:Mindcrime” and Crimson Glory’s “Transcendance”. 21 years later, Arkeyn Steel acquired the rights to re-release this US prog masterpiece featuring a total digital remaster with 3 extra songs and an extra bonus DVD of a 60-minute live performance of the band in Washington just a few months before they entered the studio to record “One Small Voice”.
This is the “One Small Voice” album with the added bonus of “Two Hearts” (featured only on the original Japanese issue), “The Haunting” (never released before!) and a different version of “Alone Again” that will see the light of day from Terry Gorle’s archives for the very first time!!! But what is the biggest surprise is the extra bonus DVD. Inside the disc you’ll find a live show from 1988 in Riviera clocking in at about 60 minutes! This recently discovered 1988 video footage is the only complete Heir Apparent concert with this legendary line-up. The show took place about 3 months after they recorded the “live in studio” demo that was released by Hellion in 2000 as the Triad CD. It’s the ONLY video with Steve Benito on vocals and it has never ever been released. Audiovisual quality is fantastic and as you will hear Steve’s voice was near always perfect!

And no time like the present to announce our new deals for the New Year that will have all U.S/Canada power metal aficionados drooling with anticipation.
First off, around the end of January, is Saharra’s (New York) magnificent demo Times… featuring both unreleased and live tracks as well as a full digital remaster, a detailed bio and rare pics! All Queensryche, Heir Apparent, Sacred Warrior, Lethal fans will excited!

What we have next, is the release that will take Arkeyn Steel Records to its next level and elevate its status. Next up from Arkeyn Steel Records is Blackkout (Florida), the ultimate prog/power band from Saint Petersburg! Arkeyn Steel Records made a deal for the re-release of their 1989’s amazing LP-Tape “Ignorance Of Man” and 1985’s 7″ single “Fallout” as bonus, limited as always to 1000 handnumbered copies. Both the LP-Tape and the 7″ single are now sold at sky-high prices since only 500 copies were released back then. Fans of Watchtower, Hittman and all power metal lovers should add those to their must buy lists.

Out of Massachusetts comes our fifth release in the form of the power/prog group Moriah. Arkeyn Steel Records bought the rights to their 1990 demo, the private mini-CD “Speak” (1991), their Live Demo 1993 and as bonus material their so far unreleased 1994 demo. This will be a double CD with more than 100 minutes of music and, as always, digitally remastered.

Last but certainly not least are the Canadian power metal troupe Kraken (Toronto, Ontario)!!!! A deal with the band has been struck for the first official release of their unreleased 1983 album, the title? “Kraken I”, producer? Lips from Anvil!

But that’s not all, as we managed to get a hold of an entire Kraken album produced by Chris Tsangarides with material from the 1980-1983 periods entitled “Underground”. The only release of this album so far has been a bootlegged LP. Also included will be the 1980 demo (The Kraken, Executioner, Kill the King) and the Executioner live.

Both albums have been remastered by the band themselves and transferred directly from the original master tapes.

As you can see, 2010 will be Arkeyn Steel Records’ year!!!

Don’t let the fact there’s been no update in our news section fool you. On the contrary, I’m always on a relentless hunt for well-hidden gems of U.S Steel. So, after Reignstorm, due for a late May/early June release, and A Shattered Dream, on their way for a September release, two more names have joined Arkeyn Steel’s roster.

First, we have Tramontane, which many of you will know from Doomed Planet’s 2002 release featuring their 89 demo in it’s entirety and choice cuts from the 1994 demo. Arkeyn Steel Records managed to get the rights for a 80’ min full length CD containing the 1989 demo and the complete 1994 demo plus 4 bonus tracks taken from various live shows and unreleased material. All will of course be digitally remastered and accompanied with the usual bio as well as a new cover.

The next new entry is Blackstorm who in the late 80s/early 90s recorded 3 demos real US power/speed metal jewels. Guitarist Robert S. Kolowitz was in Hellhound (US) and after Blackstorm disbanded formed Rapid Fire (US) who recently got a re-issue through Stormspell Recs. The three Blackstorm demos were 1989’s “Twist Of Fate” (Produced by Geoff Thorpe of Vicious Rumors), 1990’s “Tales From The Wishing Well” and 1994’s largely unknown “Lands Of Yesterday”. All three will be transferred from the original master tapes and get the full Arkeyn Steel treatment (i.e a digital remaster, unreleased pics and new covers). Stay tuned for upcoming surprise-releases!

In a few days comes to the light the second so expected Longings Past’s album! Our next meeting is in April with one of the best USA epic power albums that is “Engraved In Stone” from Commandment. The fans of Liege Lord, Slauter Xstroyes and Helstar will be glad to add another real gem in their collection. All these are only the start! What follows is one more band from Baltimore, Maryland (Mystic Force, Manifest, Omega Point, Apollo Ra, Tension) named Reignstorm! This name maybe sounds unfamiliar to some of you but their CD “Tomorrow’s Past” contains the whole band’s demography since 1988 till 1999, with the huge drummer of Mystic Force, Chris Lembach! In vocals we meet his brother Jarrett Lembach, the one with a so gifted voice, who offers to the band a sound that whoever kills for Lizzy Borden, Fates Warning, Queensryche, will really love it.

Last but not least, the new discovery for Arkeyn Steel’s roster (which is gonna be released in September ’09) is named “A Shattered Dream”, who in 1990 released their only demo tape titled 4-D Society with 5-tracks. Their sound is too close to False Witness, Oliver Magnum, Exciter, Agent Steel with Jeff Crocker’s vocals shooting up very high octaves!! Except for this demo Arkeyn Steel Recs managed to find another new song and 7 more live tracks from soundboard of that time, five of which are unreleased as the band could never record any in a studio!

The best is that all the above are going to be released in 1000 limited handnumberd copies, with digital remaster, total new artwork and layout, unreleased pics and detailed bio!!

Arkeyn Steel has already been talking with other great but unluckily wasted USA/Canada power metal bands and we soon hope to announce the names. As far as it concerns me, I would like to thank all of you for the thousand mails and the support to Arkeyn Steel’s effort and of course all the companies that open their distribution doors worldwide. Also many thanks to those who write the amazing reviews in various fanzines, webzines and forum and definitely the journalists of big magazines throughout the world like Rock Hard (Germany), Rock Hard (GR), Metal Hammer (GR) and so on, whose reviews help us continue this difficult chase of all the forgotten bands!
